Ugarit (Ras Shamra)
An ancient city that is located about 11 k.m to the north of Lattakia city.
Area: about 22 hectares. Population: 4-5 thousands. The city flourished
in the 14th century B.C., and was one of the most important locations
because of the discoveries that had great influences to the humanity
such as: Ugrait Alphabet (the first written down Alphabet in history), The
Musical Scale (the first written down Musical Scale in history). These
two achievements and others show the great effect of Syrian Civilization
on the whole world and specially Europe.

أوغاريت (رأس شمرا)
تبعد 11كم إلى الشمال من مدينة اللاذقية، تبلغ مساحتها 22 هكتاراً، وعدد سكانها 4-5 آلاف نسمة،
ازدهرت في القرن الرابع عشر قبل الميلاد، وتعد من أهم المواقع الأثرية في سوريا نظراً للعديد من
المكتشفات التي كان لها الأثر الكبير في تاريخ الإنسانية مثل: أبجدية أوغاريت (أقدم أبجدية مدونة في
التاريخ)، بالإضافة إلى السلم الموسيقي الذي يعد الأقدم في التاريخ، وهذان الإنجازان يعدان من أبرز
الدلائل على التأثير الكبير للحضارة والثقافة السورية على العالم بأسره وخاصة العالم الغربي.
